How to play

Fourteen points. One hand at a time.

Pedro is a trick-taking game for two teams of two. Every hand has exactly fourteen points in it, and the team that wins the bid has to bring home what it promised.

    Deal nine

    Everyone gets nine cards. You and the player across from you are partners for the whole game.

  2. 2

    Bid for it

    Going around the table, bid how many of the hand’s fourteen points your team will take, or pass. High bid wins.

  3. 3

    Call trump

    Win the bid and you name the trump suit. Pick the suit your hand is strongest in, then lead.

  4. 4

    Take tricks

    Follow suit or trump in. Count the points you pulled in. Make your bid and you score them; miss it and you go set.

What counts

Only trump cards score. The five of trump is the Pedro, and the other five of the same color counts as trump too. Between them that’s ten of the fourteen points, so guard them.
